Hello, and welcome! My name is Yu, and I live in Tokyo with my wife and two children.
I now live in Tokyo, together with my family. For over 15 years, I worked at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in the fields of architecture and urban planning. After that, I transitioned to the education sector, where I currently work. Thanks to this background, I can share Tokyo not only as a local resident but also from the perspective of someone who has been involved in shaping the city itself.
Through this blog, I aim to go beyond the typical travel guide. Of course, I’ll cover the must-see landmarks, but I also want to introduce the hidden corners of the city, the everyday culture, and the little details that make Tokyo unique. Whether it’s your first time in Japan or you’re coming back for a deeper experience, I hope to offer insights that help you explore the city with confidence.
As a father of two, I also highlight family-friendly spots and relaxing places where you can take a break during your busy trip. My hobbies include tennis, reading, traveling, and exploring great food, so you’ll often find me writing about Tokyo’s best culinary experiences.
I started this blog because I wanted visitors from abroad to discover not only the sights but also the stories behind Tokyo. From understanding the massive redevelopment of Shibuya from an urban planning perspective, to strolling through the charming backstreets of old neighborhoods, I’ll share Tokyo in a way that goes beyond surface-level sightseeing.
